Dorottya Székely is a British-Hungarian producer and development executive with over 15 years of experience in film distribution, entertainment marketing, and streaming. She has worked at global studios such as Amazon Studios & Prime Video and Netflix and independent production companies like My Accomplice, Dogwoof, and Budapest Film.
Currently, Dorottya is a freelance Development Executive at My Accomplice, an award-winning London-based production company, where she works on a slate of scripted film and TV projects.
She also works as a development consultant, collaborating with writers, executive producers, and independent production companies to help shape projects from initial pitch to greenlight. Her expertise includes idea development, script assessment, crafting greenlight strategies and financing plans, and writing compelling pitches and UK/EU funding applications. In addition to consulting, she develops her own scripted slate under Complex Characters, a production company dedicated to championing emerging filmmakers and telling globally resonant stories.
Before transitioning to development, Dorottya worked as Senior Launch Manager at Amazon Studios & Prime Video from 2022 to 2024, leading strategic projects across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. During this period, she oversaw the creative strategy of over 1,500 films, TV series, and documentaries. Her work was recognised in 2024 when she received the Prime Video EMEA Marketing Award for her work on Amazon’s Local Originals.
Dorottya also spent four years at Netflix, from 2019 to 2022. She led content marketing strategy, budget planning, and campaign execution for Netflix Original films and European series across 25 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Her work on high-profile titles like The Witcher franchise, The Crown, Sex Education, Black Mirror, Top Boy, Money Heist, Our Planet and The Irishman contributed to the platform's success in reaching 200 million global subscribers. In 2021, she produced Netflix's first 3-hour live-to-tape show, WitcherCon, broadcast on YouTube and Twitch in 15 languages, generating 3 million views during its launch weekend.
Earlier in her career, Dorottya was the Head of Marketing at Dogwoof, where she successfully marketed over 100 documentaries for UK distribution and international sales, including an Oscar- and BAFTA-winning campaign for Free Solo. Her efforts contributed to 16 successful BFI Film Fund projects and secured awards for the Audience and Distribution Funds. She was recognised as a Rising Star at the 2017 Screen Awards.
Dorottya began her career in theatrical distribution in Central and Eastern Europe at Budapest Film, where she led marketing and PR campaigns for 40 theatrical releases and award campaigns. She collaborated closely with the Hungarian Film Fund on their first screenwriting incubator program, supporting emerging writers in making their debut features.
A sought-after speaker, Dorottya has delivered over 15 industry talks and masterclasses, including sessions at the British Film Institute’s Future Film Lab and the UK Film Distribution Summit.
